St James Emmaus Ministry

It all began with a sandwich… And, now over 1000 sandwiches are prepared, delivered and served at the Catholic Charities Men’s Shelter each month. In addition to the men’s shelter, sandwiches are distributed to the youth on the city’s south side at Bishop Foery Foundation, a Catholic Charities after school program, as well as to individuals living on the streets and underneath bridges. Groups from Holy Cross, Holy Family, St. Francis Xavier, St. James Churches, and confirmation students, gather to make sandwiches and thus, perform the first corporal work of mercy– to feed the hungry.
