Why you should consider making a donation and what it supports…

Road to Emmaus Ministry of Syracuse, Inc., is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization…

Your donation is exempt from IRS taxation.  EIN # 81-2536179

100% Volunteer Run • 100% Direct Donation

Your financial support helps bring the love of Christ to the poor, hungry, isolated and homeless within the poorest neighborhoods in the city of Syracuse.  All involved in the ministry are volunteers from the Director on down!  Your donation goes to putting flesh to the Gospels through our corporal works of mercy.

Serving meals, providing clothing, shower and laundry ministry, haircuts and foot care…

Thousands of hot meals, soups and sandwiches are prepared at the St. Marianne Cope Center for Outreach and served to our Emmaus “family” at the center located at 4335 South Salina Street.  Meals are also provided to the Catholic Charities Emergency Shelters for men and women; the Bishop Foery Foundation After School and Summer Programs and senior citizens at the Onondaga Blvd Senior Housing throughout the year.  Coffee, donuts and orange juice are served at the shelters on holiday mornings throughout the year; Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Easter Sunday,  Father’s Day and Thanksgiving Day.  Winter clothing, hats, gloves and boots are distributed at the center.  Homeless individuals can shower and have their clothes laundered at the center.  Haircuts and foot care are provided monthly.

Cookouts • Luncheons • Summer Programs • Bike Giveaway…

Emmaus Ministry hosts a yearly Summer Sizzler Cookout on the city’s south side providing food, games, prizes and an eight-bicycle giveaway for hundreds living on the south side. Regular children’s activities such as board games, coloring, drawing and “discover and learn” projects are offered at the center.  Emmaus Ministry’s volunteer college interns conduct a summer program for the south side teens in which they learn through interactive activities, develop skills, confidence and the value of others. Emmaus’ Senior’s Ministry, which was started by a formerly homeless gentleman, reaches out to seniors living in local Christopher Community Housing.  Emmaus Ministry values life, at all ages and within all conditions.  Weekly open AA meetings are on site to support those with alcoholism.

Service Retreats for: Confirmation Candidates • R.E. Students • Campus Ministries…

Lastly, Emmaus Ministry conducts numerous service retreat programs throughout the year.  Religious Education students, Confirmation candidates, college campus ministry students, families, work groups and agencies come to Emmaus Ministry for direct “hands on” experiences that provide an eye to eye encounter with the poor and needy.  During the retreats, the participants learn more about the connection of our faith and service while understanding our call to discipleship.  Formerly homeless individuals, who are now Emmaus volunteers, offer insights to homelessness, addiction, crime, and witness to how God and people of service helped plant the seeds for their conversion. Emmaus Ministry depends solely on donations and the generosity of others to serve the many that come through our doors.  Thank you for your support and the opportunity to continue to spread the Good News! God bless, Sheila Austin, R.N. President/Director Road to Emmaus Ministry of Syracuse, Inc.
