Emmaus Ministry volunteers prepare hot meals throughout the year, feeding more than 10,000 men, women and children. The food prepared is delivered and served at the Catholic Charities Men’s Shelter, Dorothy Day House, Bishop Foery Foundation, St. Lucy’s Bread of Life Lunch, and to individuals on the streets or living in camps. Numerous families, parishes, organizations and confirmation classes prepare these meals and then serve the meals personally. Volunteers experience placing the food they prepared directly in the hands of the hungry. They “see” the homeless and Christ’s presence in them.
