Coat and Sock Collection
Socks are one of the most needed and valued necessities of the homeless. The homeless are on their feet constantly, and may go weeks without a new or dry pair of socks. Socks not only provide warmth to their feet, but protection from the cold and damp weather. Emmaus distributes 2500 pairs of socks each year. Emmaus Ministry also distributes coats and seasonal clothing. During the winter months the poor and homeless need socks, hats, gloves, hoodies and warm coats. Various groups conduct collections for these items at home parishes, schools or places of work. With the Hope Mobile, these items are brought to them whether at the Rescue Mission, various shelters or out on the streets. Emmaus Ministry also provides clothing, shoes, socks and outerwear for individuals being released from jail or the hospital.
